How Do I Join?
Membership in the Greensboro Builders Association is a simple process. Simply complete a membership application which can be found under Join Now. Submit your completed application with your first year’s dues payment to the GBA office.

How does the “Three-in-One” Membership work?
When you join the Greensboro Builders Association, you are also joining the North Carolina Home Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders. Your financial investment is divided between the three associations thus you receive benefits from each association. The benefits of membership extend from services that directly benefit your business to programs that improve the business climate for the building and real estate industry.

How do I market and promote my business, product or service?
There are numerous ways to promote your business. As a member, you receive a FREE listing in our printed and online membership directory with a complimentary link to your website. There are many other ways to promote your business through networking and active participation with Association events, councils or committees; and through various advertising and sponsorship opportunities.

When are membership meetings held?
Membership meetings are held in various locations and in various formats. As a member, you will receive notification in advance of all general membership meetings. Reservations are normally required.

How do I sign up to work on a committee?
Complete the Involvement Opportunities form found under Downloads & Resources and submit to the GBA office. It’s just that simple! If you are interested in joining one of our Councils, there are associated fees and applications for each Council as they are sanctioned by NAHB.

What educational opportunities are provided?
Numerous seminars and workshops are provided by GBA as well as NCHBA and NAHB. Each year, there are several opportunities locally, state and nationally to see the latest in industry products and services, along with hundreds of educational seminar options. Plan to attend GBA’s Southern Ideal Home Show and Associates Expo; NCHBA’s 21st Century Building EXPO; and NAHB’s International Builders Show.

Are there publications that I will automatically receive?
As a member of all three associations, you will receive a free subscription to Association newsletters which include GBA’s quarterly Builder Update; NCHBA’s monthly NC Builder Magazine; and NAHB’s Nation’s Building News, published sixteen times a year with the latest news and analysis on regulatory, technical, legislative and other industry-related issues. Make sure you provide your email and/or fax number as industry alerts are periodically forwarded to you.

As a Builder, can you help me understand and comply with changing regulations?
GBA and our government affairs arm - TREBIC - work on local regulatory and policy issues that impact the building and real estate industry. GBA & TREBIC members and staff work with City & County elected officials and staff to discuss and research industry issues and their impacts to our community and economy. Builder Roundtables are opportunities to discuss local issues regarding inspections, codes and other regulatory issues impacting your business.

GBA, NCHBA and NAHB strive to keep you informed of major changes in regulations from environmental, building codes and standards, to labor, safety and health to OSHA. Programs and seminars are offered on critical issues that affect the building industry; publications addressing new or changing policies; as well as a team of staff experts who are ready to address your needs – just a phone call away.

I’m in Remodeling – how do I get involved in my specific segment of the industry?
Join the Remodelors™ Council! Join other remodelors and associate members in monthly educational meetings, networking, and community service projects. GBA’s Remodelors™ Council sponsors the annual Tour of Remodeled Homes. This is a great opportunity to showcase your professional remodeling projects to our members and the community.

I am an Associate Member. How do I network with Builders?
Your best strategy – get involved! Working side-by-side with a builder member on an Association project or committee demonstrates your commitment to the industry, while it builds the foundation of a trustworthy relationship necessary to long-term business success. It’s a more effective approach that hard-selling yourself.

How does NCHBA & NAHB benefit me in Greensboro?
By supporting pro-housing legislation and fighting burdensome regulations, NCHBA and NAHB directly influence state and national policies, which in turn directly impact your business at home. Through NCHBA and NAHB grassroots efforts, you have a powerful voice with our state and national leaders on the issues that matter to our industry.

Can I save money through my membership?
Yes, if you take advantage of discounted business products and services! NAHB’s buying power gives your great deals on office products, car rentals, credit cards, and hotels – just to name a few! You also receive a discount on items available through the Home Builder Bookstore. Visit their website at www.builderbooks.com.

How can I access NCHBA and NAHB information online?
Links are located on this site for NCHBA and NAHB. NAHB does have a Member-ONLY section: www.nahb.org. To access, you will need your membership ID number, available from the GBA office or on your copy of Builder magazine from NAHB.

What other services are available from NAHB?
When faced with legal questions, you can call NAHB’s attorneys for fast answers and expert assistance. All legal services to members are at no charge or just a minimal fee. The National Housing Library will create a free, customized resource list for you on books, magazine articles, convention tapes, and videos relating to any building topic – from ADA compliance to zero lot lines. NAHB can provide “hands on” help for your bottom line. Call (800) 368-5242, ext. 113 for assistance. NAHB staff can answer simple questions directly or can recommend a book for more complex issues.
