Bidding on all jerseys will begin at $80. Jerseys will be signed\, packaged\, and available for pick-up or shipping beginning Monday\, August 23. Link will be added once auction begins. \n  \nRaising Roofs…Builders for Habitat  \nRaising Roofs is a collaboration between the Greensboro Builders Association and Habitat Greensboro. With donations of time\, money\, and materials…64 homes have been built since this partnership was formed in 2003. Sixty-four Habitat Greensboro homes means 64 families have the critical foundation that supports a family’s health\, education\, and financial well-being. Habitat Greensboro partners with each homeowner as they work toward owning their home. DESCRIPTION:It’s the final week to register for our Fall Parade of Homes scheduled for October 9-10 & 16-17.  There are two options for builder participation: \n\nOpen Houses with homes manned on Saturday & Sunday from 1-5 pm both weekends\nVirtual Tours in which the homes will NOT be open during the Parade…however will be profiled on the Parade website; in the Parade of Homes magazine; and on social media platforms.\n\nAs the housing market inventory remains extremely low…the Virtual Tour Only option allows builders to market their company during the Parade by profiling homes previously built and/or under construction. DESCRIPTION:The 24th annual Tour of Remodeled Homes sponsored by the Remodelers Council showcasing professional remodeling will be virtual tours only this year. \nRenovations must be complete by July 30 for photography and virtual tours. There is no limitation on the number of years back the project was completed.  Homeowners must agree to make the home available for a virtual tour of the renovation…allowing the virtual tour video\, as well as photographs of the before and after renovation\, be used in marketing for the Tour. \nSubmit your Participation Agreement & Homeowner Consent Form by July 16. \n2021 Tour Participation Agreement \nSponsorship & Advertising opportunities are available.  The TOUR magazine will be printed and distributed in retail locations\, as well as digitally on the GBA website along with links to the virtual tours of all TOUR entries.  Advertising Deadline has been extended to July 23. This course satisfies the two-hour mandatory course requirement for 2020. \nBest Hiring Practices for the Construction Industry  ( 2 hr )              \nIt is often said that employees can make you\, or break you. This has never been truer than it is today. Since the Great Recession\, we have been trying to staff our companies in the midst of a severe labor shortage; while our experienced leaders are retiring\, the next generation (Gen Y) only wants to work in IT (Information Technology). SUMMARY:Continuing Education: Legal Updates
DESCRIPTION:Continuing Education for General Contractors classes to be held virtually via Zoom. You can register for full day (8 hours) as well as morning and/or afternoon session (4 hours). \nMORNING SESSION:  8:00 am – 12:15 pm  \n2020 NCLBGC Mandatory CE Course  ( 2 hr )   \nThe NC Licensing Board for General Contractor’s 2020 mandatory course explains the statutes and regulations in which qualifiers and licensees must comply. Students will review current law\, regulations\, rules and statutory terminology used by the NCLBGC. Students will also participate in a practical exercise in the application of knowledge they learned and understood during the class. This course satisfies the two-hour mandatory course requirement for 2020. \nLicensure\, Administrative Law and Risk Management   ( 2 hr )                \nThis course covers the NC General Statutes and/or federal laws and regulations\, and case law regarding the following topics: (1) licensure for general contractors; (2) employee eligibility requirements; (3) safety and OSHA; and (4) understanding CGL and builders-risk insurance policies. Students will become familiar with legal topics relevant to operating a contracting business in North Carolina. Students will be given statutory/regulatory information\, as well as case law details\, regarding each of the topics. After the class\, students should understand the requirements of licensure\, of obtaining and maintaining an eligible workforce\, of maintaining a compliant safety program (including interaction with OSHA agencies)\, and the provisions and claims procedures for common construction insurance programs. \nAFTERNOON SESSION:  1:30 – 5:30 pm  \nLatest Updates in Lien Law Changes & Residential Litigation  ( 4 hr )          \nLearn about North Carolina’s lien laws\, updates on residential construction litigation and labor and employment law developments. This course will address all current laws relating to the filing and perfecting of mechanic’s liens for construction debts in North Carolina. There is a 2-hour mandatory course along with 6 hours of electives required. We are offering a variety of topics for the elective courses\, all of which will be NC Builder Institute (NCBI) courses.
