DESCRIPTION:Join our Construction Careers Committee for our quarterly planning meeting on Wednesday\, September 18 at 3:30 pm at the GBA Office – 115 S. Westgate Drive – as we focus on workforce development initiatives\, working with educational and workforce development organizations to promote construction careers and skilled trades training opportunities. \nCurrently we have two sub-committees…our Scholarship and Endowment committees. Both committees are open for new volunteers to join. We are looking for additional volunteers to work directly with area high schools\, community colleges\, and our NAHB Student Chapter at NC A&T State University. \nOne action item for this fall is a tool/material drive for our area high schools as they have a limited budget for the resources needed for students to gain hands-on experience. \nRSVP to attend our quarterly meeting below.  For additional information\, contact Will Yearns or Cheryl Collins.

SUMMARY:Carolina Core Housing Summit
DESCRIPTION:One of the most important issues facing our region is the lack of available housing across all price points. \nGRRA and the NC REALTORS invite you to the Carolina Core Housing Summit on Friday\, September 27 from 11:00 am – 2:30 pm at High Point University.  At the summit\, the results of a comprehensive housing study will be shared\,  which encompasses all 21 counties within the Carolina Core region. \nThe study\, conducted by Bowen Research\, surveyed thousands of individuals and analyzed data on hundreds of thousands of housing units within the region. The goal of the Carolina Core Housing Summit is to present this data and unite key decision-makers around building solutions. A few key takeaways are: \n\nHousing solutions are needed across all income levels\nCoalition capacity is needed at the local level to bring all voices together\nThe challenge is urgent\, but solutions are achievable\n\nRegister here for the Housing Summit.  \nAs the Summit approaches\, you will receive additional information regarding the agenda and contents of the housing report.
