We had another successful year working to grow and expand our Association. Special thanks to all our members who helped us achieve many of our goals. Below is a brief summary of some of our key accomplishments for the year.
Workforce Development / Construction Careers
Recognizing the growing need for labor resources, we are working to form partnerships with community and industry organizations exploring ways to increase workforce development initiatives, including apprenticeship programs and building greater awareness of career opportunities. Working with Guilford County Schools, we hosted a Construction Careers Day at Raising Roofs.
Networking & Marketing
Celebrated our 60th Anniversary with special guest, Randy Noel, NAHB Vice-Chair. Experienced growth in member participation in membership meetings, including our annual meeting featuring Representative Mark Walker; Housing Forecast with Edsel Charles; and our Spring Parade Celebration featuring the Band of Oz. Held successful spring and fall golf and skeet tournaments. Held inaugural Oktoberfest event with proceeds benefitting Construction Careers initiatives.
Implemented a new tiered membership dues structure incorporating affiliate members for all levels of membership, striving to engage greater participation among our members.
Raising Roofs…Builders for Habitat
Built 5 homes in one week…with 19 participating builders and hundreds of suppliers and trade contractors…bringing our total to 60 new homes constructed since forming this partnership with Habitat Greensboro in 2003.
Through our local, state and national government affairs partners – TREBIC, NCHBA & NAHB – we continue to advocate for regulatory reforms that impact the building industry. TREBIC hosted a very successful Regulatory Staff Appreciation event along with the 18th annual Pig Poultry & Politics event.
NC Build PAC
Increased our member participation in contributions to NC Build PAC to support local and state candidates that understand and support the building and real estate industry. Exceeded our annual goal by 117%, raising more than $7,230 with 18 participating contributors.
Young Professionals Group
Continued to provide opportunities to engage younger industry members from after-hours networking socials to committee and board leadership involvement including working with our Construction Careers initiatives.
GBA Remodelers, Builders, Sales & Marketing, Aging-in-Place, and Green Building Councils provided a variety of educational programs for all GBA members including NAHB designation classes. We continued to offer the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) courses quarterly.
Consumer Home Tours
With our Parade of Homes ( Spring and Fall ) and Tour of Remodeled Homes, along with the Southern Ideal Home Show we continue to provide consumers quarterly opportunities to meet industry members; showcasing the latest in new construction, professional remodeling and industry products and services.
