Economic Impact of Residential Construction
NCHBA has released a new study that details the critical role that residential construction plays in North Carolina’s continued economic growth. The report shows that home building is not just about adding housing – it’s an important economic driver that generates revenue, supports jobs, and strengthens communities across the state.
Key Findings: 65,153 new single family homes were built in 2025; 225,244 construction-related jobs were created; resulting in $39.6 billion in economic activity and $5.1 billion in new public revenue generated for local, state and federal governments.
For every $1.00 in public service cost, single-family and townhouse construction generates $1.48 in new annual local and state revenue.
