The Greensboro Builders Association’s Annual Awards were presented on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Starmount Forest Country Club.
Join us in congratulating the following individuals recognized for their contributions to the Association, the building industry and community.
Eugene Gulledge Award
The Eugene Gulledge Award for Distinguished Service is the highest honor given by the Builders Association. It is named in honor of Eugene Gulledge who founded the Greensboro Builders Association sixty-six years ago. This award recognizes continuous, outstanding contributions to the Builders Association and the community at large over an extended period.
Joan Swift, Swift Creek Construction & Real Estate Services was awarded the 2022 Eugene Gulledge Award. Joan has been involved in the building industry for more than 15 years, as a licensed general contractor and Realtor. She has served on almost every GBA committee and council as well as the GBA Board of Directors for the past 10 years in various capacities, including 2019 GBA President. This past year she was instrumental in the formation of the Greensboro Professional Women in Building (PWB) Council, while also serving as president of the NC PWB Council. In addition, she has been active with the High Point Realtors Association, serving as president; and the NC Home Builders Association serving as a state director. Joan is also very involved in community service, participating annually as a building team leader in Raising Roofs…Builders for Habitat.
Builder Member of the Year
Susan Mowery, Building Dimensions was awarded the 2022 Builder Member of the Year Award. Susan has been involved in the Association for the past 22 years serving in a variety of leadership roles. She has been involved in the Parade of Homes, Membership, Construction Careers and Finance committees; a founding member of the Triad Green Building Council; as well as served on the GBA Board of Directors the past five years. This past year she served as our 65th Association president while championing the formation of our Professional Women in Building (PWB) Council.
Associate Member of the Year
Kathy Haines, Kathy Haines Homes by eXp Realty was awarded the 2022 Associate Member of the Year Award. Kathy has been involved in the real estate and building industry for the past 24 years, serving in a magnitude of leadership roles. She serves on our Parade of Homes, Membership and Construction Careers committees; is a founding member of our Professional Women in Building Council; and has served on our Board of Directors the past three years.
Kavanagh Award
John Hodgin, John Hodgin Construction Company was awarded the 2022 Kavanagh Award for his long-standing commitment and support of affordable housing. John has been involved with our Raising Roofs…Builders for Habitat initiative since its inception in 2003. He has served as a builder member on every build to date…as well as chaired this community service project for our association for the past seven builds. Currently he is overseeing the construction of our 65th Habitat Greensboro home.
Lewis Award
Rich & Kathy Dumas, R & K Custom Homes received the 2022 Lewis Award for utilizing the most Association members in the construction of their Parade home, working with more than 40 Associate members. This is the sixth consecutive year they have received this award…supporting our motto: Do Business with Members!
Membership Recruiter
Brad Hawkins, Granville Homes received the 2022 Membership Recruiter of the Year award for recruiting the most new members this past year.
